Asheville Smiles Dental Implant Restorations
Dr. Merrell is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantology and a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Her extensive training and education allows us to offer some of the most complex of dental implant restorations in the area.
We partner with a local periodontist to provide complete tooth replacement options. Whether you only require a single tooth implant or a full mouth prosthesis, no case is too challenging for us to assist you with. The periodontist places your implant(s) and Dr. Merrell provides the fixed restoration.
Implants are extremely predictable, with a 96-98% success rate over the course of 30 years.
Single Tooth Implant Crowns
With one implant and a crown, it’s like having a new tooth all over again. The artificial root is designed to last for life and is more cost-efficient than opting for a traditional bridge. When replacing one tooth, a single implant stands independently of other teeth and does not require reducing healthy tooth structure on neighboring teeth, the way a bridge would.
Implant Supported Dental Bridges
If you are missing several teeth in a row, an implant supported bridge is an ideal alternative to a removable partial denture. With as few as two or three implants, you can affix a bridge that is three to six teeth long.
Overdentures / Implant Dentures
These removable dentures snap onto implant locators. This option allows your denture to fit securely throughout the day, so that you do not have to rely on adhesives or pastes. Dr. Merrell may even be able to retrofit your current denture to fit over implants if you have problems with it rocking or shifting.
Hybrid Dentures
Replacing a full arch of teeth with dental implants is possible. Thanks to the hybrid denture design, there is nothing across the roof of your mouth, as there would be with a removable “plate.” The hybrid design is more like a ridge of teeth that screw onto the precisely placed dental implants. It can still be taken out, but is not meant to be removed on a daily basis.
“What Are Dental Implants?”
Implants are essentially artificial roots of teeth. They are placed into your jaw and held in place with your natural bone. As such, they become a permanent part of your smile. Above the implant, we place an abutment, which supports the final restoration. Materials used in implants are 100% biocompatible, and are the same materials used for other surgeries such as joint replacement.
Schedule a Consultation to Find Out More
After meeting with you to discuss your long-term goals, we will refer you to the periodontist for a surgical consultation. After your implant surgery, we can provide a temporary prosthesis if it is aesthetically necessary. Otherwise, it is usually three to four months before we anchor the permanent crown, bridge, or denture over your abutments.
We provide low-interest and 0% financing through CareCredit on all dental implant treatments, as well as other services. Call us today to find out if lifelong dental implants are in your future!
