Asheville General and Restorative Services

Complete Dental Care for Every Asheville Smile

Our Asheville practice provides complete general dentistry and restorative treatment services for your oral health needs. In many situations, these treatments call for restorative or rehabilitative procedures to restore your smile back to its normal function or to eliminate pain.

Some of the services that we provide include:

Same day CEREC Crowns: We make most crowns here in our office at the time of your appointment. Using 3D CAD/CAM technology, CEREC captures a virtual impression of your tooth and mills a customized crown in our lab while you wait. The finishing product matches your smile and is completely free of metal.

Teeth Fillings: White composite fillings are less invasive and aesthetically pleasing. If your cavity is small enough, we can often treat the area without anesthesia using a laser. Lasers remove decay precisely, conserving more natural tooth structure.

Single Tooth Anesthesia (STA): The Wand is a STA device that allows us to numb one tooth at a time, without an uncomfortable injection. Most people feel little to nothing at all. With The Wand, you can numb a single tooth without having lingering numbness through the side of your face.

Laser Treatments: Have you ever heard of a “drill free filling?” With Waterlase dental lasers we can prepare and clean your tooth for a filling, and only use the handpiece to remove the thin layer of residue left by the cavity. In many cases, your laser filling won’t even require anesthetic.

Lasers can also be used to recontour the gumlines, treat cold sores and ulcers, or perform a frenectomy in areas of a tongue or lip tie. Using lasers for gum therapies reduces post-op swelling and causes little or no bleeding.

Tekscan Occlusal Analysis: Our bite analysis software allows us to ensure that your bite feels right, so as not to stimulate unnecessary clenching or wear to your teeth. It’s more accurate than other methods and registers every 300th of a second to detect exactly which teeth bite together and how forcefully.

Dental Implant Restorations: As a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Dr. Merrell has achieved the highest level of recognition when it comes to providing her patients with dental implant related services. We partner with a local surgeon to provide fixed tooth replacements such as implant crowns, implant bridges, hybrid dentures, and implant supported dentures.

Traditional Dentures and Partials: An economical choice for replacing missing teeth, these removable prosthetics are a straightforward alternative over advanced treatments like dental implants.

Dental Bridges: A conventional dental bridge may be needed if an individual implant is not an option. Bridges replace missing teeth by supporting an artificial crown between two functional crowns, which are respectively bonded over healthy teeth on either side of the open area.

Simple Teeth Extractions: Removing a badly diseased or infected tooth is often the first step to getting your smile back on track. If you need to replace a missing tooth, be sure to ask about our dental implant restorations.

Checkups for Children: Does your child love visits to the dentist? If your little one is already familiar with the dental environment, we are happy to offer continued care!

During your new patient appointment, we will thoroughly examine your teeth and discuss any concerns that you may have. All our findings will be reviewed with you, so that an appropriate treatment plan can be set into motion.
